Dewan Trading is preparing to launch, and we are building our supplier network in Bangladesh now. One rule will guide that work: before we place an order with a supplier, we plan to check them in person. Not only by email, and not only through a third-party agency, but directly by our founder, Akbar Dewan.
It is a slower way to build a supplier list. But Japanese buyers expect consistent quality and reliable delivery, and we want to be able to stand behind every shipment before it leaves Bangladesh.
What we plan to check
- The facility itself, not just photos of it
- Sample quality, compared with what Japanese retailers and wholesalers will accept
- Packaging and labelling, and whether it can be adjusted to Japanese-market standards
- Capacity: whether the supplier can really meet the quantities and timelines they quote
Why it matters
If a supplier does not pass these checks, we will not recommend them to our buyers, whatever the price. That is the trade-off of working with one trusted contact instead of a large marketplace: fewer options, but each one carefully checked.
